Clean the clutter and clear the slate.
It's time for your monthly 'New Moon Numen'. What is numen?
nu·men- the spirit or divine power presiding over a thing or place.
These horoscopes are designed with the astrological spirit/essence of the Moon in mind. It's not just a horoscope, but also a guide on how to best use the Moon's numen. New Moons are a time for manifesting, planting, and beginning. The Moon is at her darkest, and that darkness acts as rich humus that we can scatter the seeds of our desires in. New Moons also feel special due to the Moon being conjunct the Sun. The luminaries are together, floating in unison if only for the briefest moment. During that moment when the Sun and Moon are aligned we receive a spark, that if used wisely, can turn into a magnificent blaze.
Each horoscope will be a blend of two parts: The astrology, and how to focus that energy. The astrology portion is simply explaining what we're looking at and its influences. House placement, sign, and strong aspects (an orb of 2°) will be taken into consideration when assessing the Moon's numen. The focus portion is meant to further hone in and guide you using real life examples of how the energy could play out. It may not be the exact situation you're experiencing, but it will be in the same realm. Also take your natal placements into account when assessing the energy of this Moon. If you have a natal planet making a major aspect to the Moon, especially a conjunction, then the Moon will express as a blended energy for you.
The Moon's Numen
I feel like I was just writing about Virgo energy, but that was because of Mercury retrograde. Which, Mercury does station direct the day after the New Moon, so there's some goodness happening already. This might be my favorite New Moon of the year so far, so let's get into why that is. Virgo is the sign of mutable Earth. Mutable Earth wants to take what someone has done in the material world, but make it better. Virgo edits, revamps, and spruces up the place. The meticulous nature of Virgo lends it to being the perfectionist of the zodiac, which comes with its own set of ups and downs. It's amazing to be the best at something, but we don't often realize the stress and anxious energy someone has to go through to get to that point. At its best, mutable Earth is flexible and knows the value of being open to change. At its hardest, mutable Earth is filled with anxiety over being able to get something "just right".
When it comes to the realm of the emotions, magic, and dreams, Virgo can feel a bit restrictive at first. Virgo may be mutable, but it's still an Earth sign. This means it needs to be able to ground itself, which is something the Moon can appreciate. When the energy of Virgo is scattered, that's when we see anxiousness set in. Mutable does not mean erratic, it means flexible and ever-changing. In fact, a lot of the mutable signs become self-destructive and aimless when their energy is left without a proper outlet. The Moon in Virgo is the balancing of change and sure-footedness. This Moon makes me think of someone going into my emotional world and pushing all the buttons. Not just to see what they do, but so they can understand what they do. The Moon in Virgo strives to understand the world around it, both inner and outer. While emotions may not be this Moon's go-to thing, it knows they have purpose. Let this lunar event be a time when you tinker around in your own subconscious space and see what's working, what could use a tune up, and what needs to be discarded. The chart below shows what aspects the new Moon will be making, so let's get into those.
