Again, if you want to know the meaning of the decans themselves, what they are, and how they can be of use to us, then definitely read the first post in this series before continuing on. You all know I like to teach from a solid foundation, so knowing exactly what the decans are and the rationale behind them will be important in their interpretation. If you're solid on the concept of decans, then let's get started with the planetary ruler.
Planetary Ruler
I feel like it’s been a whirlwind exploring these decans and understanding all the different ways that the sign of Gemini can express itself. I would expect nothing less from the king of duality though! The last decan is ruled by the Sun. The Sun signifies the soul and our conscious intellect, so I often see this decan playing out as the stereotypical “smart” Gemini. The first decan of Gemini we talked about needing to lean into faith rather than facts, and this last decan is going to be exactly the opposite of that. Planets and placements under this decan, especially the Sun and Mercury, are going to want to know all the who, what, where, why, and when of everything. This doesn’t mean it’s an uptight decan though! Gemini still embodies the duality of being the professor and the jester while in these last 10°. This decan gives me big time Rumpelstiltskin vibes. It’s being the smartest person in the room and knowing it, and sometimes using that intellect at the expense of others. Planets under this decan will have a shrewd disposition, a keen eye for details, and able to apply those details to their benefit. If Mercury was passing through this decan you would see someone who relies on their intellectual mind and needs to be provided hard facts and evidence to fully embrace something as the truth. The more data this decan can get, the better.
Mutable Air and the Sun come together to create a 10° segment that’s prolific in mind. It takes all those traditional significations of Gemini and expresses them in a heart and soul kind of way. Being analytical and understanding the world through logic and reason is innate to these degrees. If the Moon were to pass through here, we would see someone be highly logical in their emotions. They would still have a fun and cheery side, but you need to “make it make sense” for them or else they won’t relate emotionally. This decan also contains the energy of a skilled merchant, musician, or entertainer. A great example chart for this decan is the chart of the company, Amazon. Amazon has its Mercury in the third decan of Gemini and it’s a company that has revolutionized (for better or worse) the way we buy, consume, and transport products. These final degrees of Gemini shine conscious intellect on anything they touch. It’s 10° of solar-charged mercurial energy, so use it wisely.
